Optimising Sales and Operations using Robotic Process Automation

Introductionto Clear Channel  &Background

Clear Channel is one of the world’s largest outdoor advertising companies with over 450,000 displays in 31 countries across Asia, Europe, Latin America and North America. Over recent years, they recognised the needtodigitiseand transform their businesstoenablemore targeted, flexible and creative advertising in order to adapt to the ever-changing technologic landscape.

This ongoing digitisation strategyaims toboostthe number ofservicesand trading opportunities. However, challenged by sustainabilityas their business grew, their internalbusiness processhad shown signs of ineffectiveness and lackof agility in salesoperation. The risk was that Clear Channel wouldbe stretched to keep up with the increasingnumberof opportunitiesdue to data quality issues, repetitive tasking, and legacy application constraints. Clear Channel realized that next to the long-term digitization strategy, a solution was required for the short term as well.

Riverflexaimedtosupport Clear Channel to rapidlytransform andoptimise business operations, without the need to change the legacy application landscape.RoboticProcessAutomation(RPA) wasidentified as aprimary solution.

From assessment to technicalsolution

Riverflex worked with Clear Channel toidentify which businessprocessesto focus onto achieve the objective of optimising business processes’ efficiency, effectiveness and agility. We followed the following four steps to approach this challenge.

  • OpportunityAssessments First, a quick scan of all the potential ideas, followed with thorough opportunity assessments to analysewhich business processes were suitable for automation, andtodetermine the process complexityandpotential benefitsof automating. This assessment enables a process prioritisation for RPA cases in sales and operations,  in accordance with their business case value.
  • Process Design Documenting and reviewing the RPA process, to ensure the designed solution is matching SME expectations and fits perfectly within the overall business process.
  • ImplementationDeveloping individual RPA solutions (bots)to execute the process tasks using RPA software from UiPath, whileestablishing an architecture for orchestration and governance over the automated processes. During implementation, we supported the internal change management by demonstrating the robots and their added value to the SMEs and leadership team.
  • MaintenanceThis is a critical part ofsuccessfulRPAimplementations, monitoring the digital workforce and resolving any incidents to make surethatthe solution workseffectively andto the highest level ofthe bots’capability.

During the initial opportunity assessment, our experts identified the first set of eight processes as suitable candidates to develop automation. During the implementation, new automatable process submissions were evaluated, resulting in a pipeline of 10 more RPA opportunities and bringing RPA to the next level.
